Previously...

Previously in the Awakening Campaign...

  • The heroes left Thronn, a dwarven architect, in charge of building a dam to protect the city of Mist from the floods sure to occur with the release of the water elementals.
  • Queen Ilri Celebar granted the heroes' request for an audience with the Chancellor of Aetheria University at Bellglade as a reward for recovering the King and their Niece.
  • En route to Bellglade after being recalled by the King, the Ruatria was attacked and sunk by an assailant who only identified himself as Roagrim.

Dragon Chase - 2Y1179 Vistro 27

The moon seems to grow brighter and a guttural roar fills your ears as a large shadow passes overhead. You're able to discern the outline of a enormous dragon chasing off the blue dragon.

Skywood Shores - 2Y1179 Vistro 27 - 29

Without the sails of the Ruatria, it takes a few days of rowing to get all the small craft near the shores of Skywood where you're quickly picked up by a patrolling military vessel looking for the Ruatria. With all the survivors onboard, the ship quickly makes its way to the forest island.

As the moon begins to rise, you can catch a glimpse of Skywood. Even at this far of a distance, the trees seem to reach high into the heavens. The torches of a busy harbor guide the ship and the survivors to safety.

Disembarking from the ships is an arduous process as the injured are carefully taken to the healing houses. Afterwards, the royal family and honored guests, including yourselves, are led off.

General Saeque stands on the pier waiting for you. Again I offer my condolences for your loss...Before he can continue, Néshira has slipped over a wooden wall and into the forest. I've sent a messenger to setup accommodations for you at the Silver Lights tavern. Never heard of it before but it's come highly recommended. Shae, Elaron wishes to speak with you privately at the castle. Lira, if you'll join us please.

The King and I - 2Y1179 Vistro 30

The General guides Lira and you through the forest with a small torch. The trees seem even more grand than from aboard the ship. Even the smallest of the trees dwarfs any you've seen in your lifetime. A light chime can be heard off in the distance.

After an hour of walking the titanic trees finally give way to a large glade. The wind rushes past you and into the glade where it rustles amongst the flowers. A light ringing rises up from the flowers as the wind pushes through the glade.

The general guides you to a small platform in the grass that has several stones piled atop it. He motions for you to stand next to him and begins placing the stones in a bag. With most of the stones stowed away, the board begins to rise from the ground at a gentle pace.

Its only after you begin to climb into the air that you take notice of the shadows cast from overhead. In the sky above are hundreds of wooden buildings suspended in midair. As you near the bottom level of buildings, the general begins removing some of the stones from the bag and the platform slows to a halt.

After you. He motions to a small skiff and climbs into the back. A young eladrin begins propelling the skiff forward by using a long pole to push off the buildings. He guides the skiff towards a large castle in the center of the floating city. Half an hour later you're in a waiting chamber in the castle with a pair of guards posted at the door.

This chamber is relatively cozy, a number of chairs are placed around a center table. Portraits of various eladrin hang on the walls. In short order, the king dismisses the guards and closes the double doors before taking a seat.

Protector of All, Ralune (sister), Ilri (wife), Arahil (brother)

Exploring the Harbor - 2Y1179 Vistro 30 Afternoon

The Bellglade Harbor is surprisingly busy for an island that doesn't allow foreign visitors without approval from the royal family. Eladrin, elves, drow and half-elves mill about the docks and warehouses. The few non-fey you see are primarily dwarves plying their metals and gems. The port area seems rather contained and a high wooden palisade divides it from the rest of the island.

A Perception or Streetwise check (DC 25) gets the following:
Two white painted ships in particular are receiving a lot of attention. Dozens of fey are moving inspecting the hulls and their general seaworthiness. It seems as though they're new ships about to be entered into service.

Customs House - 2Y1179 Vistro 30 Afternoon?

The only exit from the port is through a large customs house. It doesn't take long to for you to be processed through. A female elf introduces herself as Ghilwen. General Saeque has asked me to escort you to the Silver Lantern in the city proper. Please follow me.

Ghilwen guides the group through the Skywood Forest.

Ghilwen guides you to a small platform in the grass that has several stones piled atop it. She motions for you to stand next to her and begins placing the stones in a bag. With most of the stones stowed away, the board begins to rise from the ground at a gentle pace.

Its only after you begin to climb into the air that you take notice of the shadows cast from overhead. In the sky above are hundreds of wooden buildings suspended in midair. As you near the bottom level of buildings, Ghilwen begins removing some of the stones from the bag and the platform slows to a halt.

After you. She motions to a small skiff and climbs into the back. A young eladrin begins propelling the skiff forward by using a long pole to push off the buildings. He pushes the skiff towards a modestly sized building near the north end of the floating city.

Silver Light Tavern - 2Y1179 Vistro 30 Evening

The tavern is sparsely populated only a few drow and elves are present eating and speaking in hushed voices. Ghilwen speaks with the barkeep and returns. You'll have a few rooms let to you for the duration of your stay. Expenses paid for by the Silver Crown. The University opens in the morn. General Saeque has arranged for a meeting with Chancellor Saeressa.

Pardon Miss Me - 2Y1179 Vistro 30 Late Night

Late in the night the High Prince arrives with an ensemble of guards. He walks over to the table that Rowlfwicke has barely left. The barkeep has cleared the table of steins several times over. The guards part and push Néshira forward towards the table. The High Prince speaks, your friend here was caught mutilating the trees of our forest. Your quickly using up any favor you have with my uncle. He was kind enough to pardon her but you should keep a close eye on her in the future.

Aetheria University - 2Y1179 Vistro 31 Morning

The Aetheria University is a collection of large buildings, a dormitory, several lectures halls, a tower of laboratories, and tens of classrooms and offices. Chancellor Saeressa is a thin blonde eladrin and seated behind a small desk.

Aetheria University - 2Y1179 Riyit 21

The days turn into weeks and you all seem to get your bearings of the city. Simmah's spent most of his time at the university. A message has arrived calling you to the university and Chancellor Saeressa's office.

Every time Rowlfwicke moves by hushed voices murmur apologies about the enslavement law that has been passed in the western counties of the Holy State. Rumors have begun traveling around the city about the Celebarim mobilizing for war. The Holy State has formally declared the western counties in rebellion.

The Chancellor's office is filled with people. King Elaron, Queen Ilri, and Ralune Celebar and a half-elf. All the conversations immediately halt and the King turns to speak. Greetings friends, this is my sister, Ralune Celebar. I believe you've met in Kacorothi. You know my wife, Queen Ilri. And this is your new friend, Sevak. I've hired him to see to the protection of Shae.

The Chancellor interrupts. We've had time to examine Rowlfwicke's axe and have deduced a bit about it. There is an echo of the Betrayal event on the axe. It seems to have also captured some of the essence of the mortal Ithquenti.

Since we took so long examining your axe, we'd thought we'd help get you to Fairport a bit faster.
